HI. I was on a 5:30 AM Alitalia flight on March 18 with my husband and kids (TLV-FCO-JFK) that turned around at the runway due to a technical malfunction and then eventually rescheduled for 13 hours! after scheduled takeoff. They took all passengers to a hotel in Tel Aviv( we had to disembark somewhere in the airfield, get on buses, go through passport control to get back into a country we had never departed from...) for the day except for a few of us who would not leave the airport and demanded better arrangements. We were supposed to have a 2 hour layover in Rome and were totally messed up. After much arguing we were placed on a direct Elal flight(TLV-JFK) a few hours later and landed in NY about 4 hours later than our original itinerary was supposed to get us there. According to the law mentioned above in the Delta case, are we eligible for any compensation and if so, then what. At the time we were so happy to get on another flight and a direct one at that! and too busy shlepping around a bunch of kids who had been up since 2 AM that we were not thinking in terms of compensation. In anyone knows something I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
