Dining room chairs
« on: May 05, 2024, 04:37:17 PM »
We’ve been looking to replace our DR chairs. The vinyl ones we got we we got married are terribly ripped by now.

Anyone familiar with this company?

Trying to get some info on the quality.

Brand new, hmm.

They want cash, and there is no warranty

Don’t know anything about this specific chair but I purchased similar Chinese no-name sale chairs over 10 years ago and they are doing great! ( we did redo the vinyl seats) Similar chairs in regular furniture stores start at around 450 and up these days. These would be considered a great deal.

My folks got chairs from a Chinese-run showroom in NJ 20+ years ago (Sino Furniture, it no longer exists AFAIK), they’re still holding up well.

The issue with these drop-ship resellers are that they often go for the biggest margins (hence cash only and no warranty) so you get the lowest quality goods.

From what I remember about the ones we bought…a guy with connections contracted a couple of popular styles. Sold them off in a one time sale and made his profit with little overhead. We were very pleased and understood that at that price point it’s hit or miss.

I just redid the vinyl ones recently. its not too hard and I'm not that handy... I went to stich n sew and bought the fabric. they tell you exactly how much you need with instructions, and it cost me total of around $120(wasn't the cheapest fabric) for 6 chairs. just need a boxcutter to cut out the old fabric, screwdriver and staplegun, and maybe a kitchen knife if you want to pop out some old staples, but you can really just cover it. it took me around 45 min. to an hour a chair but will take you less if you are more handy.

There are also company's that can do it for you. Significantly cheaper than buying new chairs.

Look into replacing the foam insert also.

We got these 13 years ago, extremely comfortable chairs. Not sure if the build quality has changed in that time period, but ours are still holding up.

Why not?
I’m not quite sure. DW says we were told so when we got them.

Looks like it can be done?

Anyone have a number for someone who does it in the Lakewood area?

It looks like it will be a big job and probably not cost effective

Was thinking along those lines...

I'm no expert on this matter, but I don't think that it can't be done, but rather, since your chair has so much vinyl, it may not make sense financially to reupholster it...

It definitely doesn't hurt to reach out to a place that does upholstery, send them a picture, and see what they say...

Getting it to look right will also be very difficult not only the amount of vinyl
