Tracking devices
« on: July 31, 2023, 11:41:55 AM »
I attached an airtag to my sons backpack this year to get sporadiac updates on his location. Was very helpful in getting a general idea of when his bus left, and it felt good to have real time updates and know he got to the right place, school, after school clubs etc.

Wondering if there are other ways of tracking, downside on the airtags is that they can't get instant location.

I tried but too complex for me to sort through and I'm hardly tech savvy. Curious to know what people have and are happy with.

Google and Apple coming out with a standard soon.

And it includes alerts if your are being tracked (i.e. if there are trackers not belonging to you in the vicinity).

Apple airtags do that already.

I visited my brother in law out of town, rented a car via Turo and driver attached airtag to the keys.
After a couple of hours in his house his iPhone statted beeping with an alert "someone sems to be tracking you" showed my entire route for past 24 hours for him to confirm he knew about the airtag

I think it’s time for @Dan to start writing on AirTag posts: “AirTags, a must for travelers and politicians…”  8)

A mayor was arrested for stealing campaign signs after his rival put AirTags on them!   ;D
