The owners do conduct tours seasonally for $25-$50/day (head to Bruno's Restaurant in Gerlach and they've been known to put tourists in contact with the owners). Or contact these guys: http://blackrockdesert.org/friends/2008-1004-fly-geyser-tour

I think I just added 30 places to my list http://www.boredpanda.com/earth-photos-look-alien/

Well, I've been to one of these (the on in yellowstone),and it looks about 16x cooler in the picture than it did in real life. So if that's the case for all of these, I'm not missing out too badly.

+1. The colors are extremely oversaturated. Doesn't look even close to this in real life

AJK,

I highly recommend Banff as it exceeded all expectations last summer.
Of the 28 countries and 28 states I have visited, it is top 5 overall.
Just an absolutely beautiful place to visit in the summer time, turquoise-colored water

Just one thing I did outside of Banff was take a 90 min drive to BC and do white water rafting down the Kicking Horse River.
Truly a memorable experience.

Yup. For all those reasons I'm looking forward to visiting.

I suspect the lakes in Banff are similar in color to the ones in South Island of New Zealand, which were phenomenally beautiful.

If I had to choose a number 1, one place I want to go to / see more than all others, I think it would be Area 51. I've been kinda intrigued / obsessed ever since the first article or documentary I saw years (decades?) ago. (No, I don't believe there are aliens there.)

But other than that:
Not quite narrowed down to only ten. In (more or less) alphabetical order:

Africa (Serengeti/Wildebeest migration, Kruger)
Alaska (Drive the Dalton Highway, watch the Grizzlies feeding)
Amazon rain Forest / Iguazu falls (I think these are totally separate, but somebody upthread combined them, so I will too)
Antarctica
Australian Outback
Banff/Jasper (I can't even count how many trips I had planned here but every time it ended up not happening for some reason.)
Canadian Ice Roads (Does this even count as a place?)
Climb Mt. Whitney (Not quite as sexy as K2 or Everest, but this I actually intend to do sometime within the next few years.)
New Zealand
Sahara Desert
the Alps

I would include Hawaii, but I already have a trip planned

Iceland / Northern Lights - done! (though I'm not quite sure why "Northern Lights" is a destination...)
Cross-USA road trip -done x9!!

Also
So I finally got a chance to see Dan & AJK's ROR TR today. That's definitely pretty high on my list now, the problem is what should it replace?
Cuba wasn't high enough to make my top ten list to begin with, so I didn't even clear any space with this trip.

I guess my list will need to grow a little...
