Tragedy In Meron!

Was by meron last night. Never seen anything like it. i actually tried to get into that Hadlaka around 15 mins before but it was too full so turned back and was very near tziyun when suddenly I see body after body being schlepped out and being administered CPR on . People totally didn't get what was happening - I heard that the roof collapsed in a small hachnosas orchim tent - when I heard that 40+ ppl were niftar and the whole world was trying to contact their relatives in Meron I was shocked.

The original guy deleted his Post, but just to add there is a well practiced Mass Casualty Incident protocol, and it includes not starting resus until first triage is complete.

Triage takes too long in such a crowd.

Seeing the ages/faces is horribly heartbreaking.

There is no sense in something like this.

Most media sources are using the term stampede. Reading eyewitness accounts, however, it seems more like it was a pileup, meaning a non-intentional crush that was caused by increased overcrowding without an outlet of release, and possibly by people falling on top of each over on the staircase/hill.

There is a huge difference between the two. The entire world is waking up to news reports that a bunch of Orthodox Jews stampeded 45 people to death. Is that a wrong narrative? (Please enlighten me if you are an eyewitness or have spoken to one.)

The police assembled all of the niftarim at Abu Kabir in Tel Aviv. 35 out of 45 have been identified.  Families are being allowed in to check if the deceased are their relatives.

There are some levaya now but there seems to be no chance everybody will be buried today. Every identification is thorough and time consuming, including teeth ex rays.

Minhag Yerushalyim is to bury on the same day of death no matter what, but in other places the minhag is to wait if it will allow for greater Kavod hamies with hespedim and family members.

while I was sitting by r Chaskel roth's bm"d saying tehilim a boucher came down barely walking saying he was laying under bodies everyone was screaming and then it started getting quieter ant quieter..........
Hatzalah checked him and told him to go to the nearest terem center to take x-rays - the guy couldn't even walk! But they needed the beds and ambulances for those badly injured

My own hashgacha pratis: was gonna go by bus but last minute decided to take my car, was gonna park in tzfat and last minute decided to park in private car parking lot - there were no buses to tzfat but we did manage to get to this parking lot which is not so far so i was able to get home b"h.
