One of your negatives for BOB is the expensive flight from PPT. So did you consider Moorea? I know it's been asked before here how it compares to BOB and I think the feeling was BOB is just in a class of its own. But you're already considering other places...

I know someone who did Moorea a few months ago in an OWB at the Hilton. I saw the pictures - they were amazing.

BTW - This person is an accomplished traveler who does thorough research. If you'd like me to ask any details, I can.

Which reminds me: last I read (on DDF) the transfer fee for the the Hyatt was like $1000

Of course you can buy up, it may just cost you big bucks negating the savings with the points.

The advantage here is that you can buy unlimited amounts of points on the cheap. Whereas other points can otherwise be hard/expensive to come by.
So may be cheaper then paying for it with cash but perhaps not the cheapest option (points wise) in Bora Bora.

Really depends on what the buy-up is, as you'd have to be nuts to go all the way to BOB or MLE and not stay in an OWB.

Yup, looks like it changed sometime early this morning.
Was still showing 30k at ~5am ET.

Its still not a bad deal (basically paying $300) if you are ambassador and use BOGO as they generally won't make you change.
