Shabbos Takeout Stores Throwing Away Food

The other day, my wife asked me if I would be interested in leftover Goldys food, because "my friend's husband's kollel (she named both) gets food from them every night after they close." I have also heard rumors that Rav Tzvi Kaplan's yeshiva gets food from them for Shabbos (makes sense, they are practically back to back).
Is it possible this Erev Shabbos incident was an anomaly? Or perhaps they only send food that is fresh enough for the Misrad Habriut's standards?

Gourmet Glatt in Lakewood gives the leftovers away and they get distributed shortly before shabbos each week. Tons of other stuff goes to the BMG coffee room each day

and i can never bring myself to pay money for the stuff that are regularly in the coffee room.

There’s a local takeout here in Crown Heights that apparently brings (some?) leftovers to 770 every Friday for people to enjoy. I was there one Friday before closing and bought myself cholent for lunch, and another customer there asked me why I’m paying when I can go to 770 soon and get the same cholent for free

I don't chap the maskana - if it's talking about anyim then I assume they're poor enough that they wouldn't be buying anyways. And if it's talking about the regular people - then the amoira Rav Huna would rather throw it away than cause a possible future loss by giving it to needy people?

This is referring to vegis and rashi says they can end up with nothing to eat because they will rely on this.

I always assumed the donation to the kollel at night was a way out of this problem. On average they don't buy fast food. 95% live in other neighborhoods, serviced by other fast food places.

I know here in LA one of the askanim goes to the takeout place and then delivers to people. It's hard to expect the store to arrange, but definitely a chesed opening for people
