Why were you surprised? G-d forbid if Iran or anyone else would now attack Israel. You will see a response like we have seen on 9/11.

Because I didn't expect it to be as strong. I am convinced (as I heard Jonathan Pollard suggest on a recent interview) that once Israel enters Gaza the Biden administration will soften and start to talk about restraint and ceasefire, and their statements were so strong that they'll have to pretzel to roll back unequivocal support.

I'm not, just like I don't take Biden's current statements without a kilo of salt, and why my first comment in this thread is uneasy about suggesting "I support Biden".

US support is vital and appreciated, but they have their own interests and priorities at heart that aren't always aligned with Israel's.

I am sure you agree that a strong democracy in the region is in the best interest of the US.

Biden knows as well as anyone that Hamas must be eliminated as much as possible. That is a US interest.

That is the key, and also the predicament.
Take decisive and aggressive action now while support is there, but then risk losing said support.
Show restraint and move slowly? support will fade anyway with time and objectives may not be completed.
Besides, dragging on in general will only cause casualties to mount on each side.

Does any other country have to reckon with this concept when just trying to keep their people safe?
