What's running it?

A pair of fiber optic engines controlled by remote and an app.

Lol way too long. Probably took over a year from start to finish, but I would drop the project for months at a time due to work, moving, etc. Also didn't help that I had zero woodworking experience, so it was a lot of trial and error while using the wrong tools lol.

How easy will it be for you to add new locations?

It's specifically designed to make it relatively easy.

I also sometimes have to remove and replace lights if my daughter ends up being in a place where only I was before. She has her own light engine so she can make her locations a different color, so I have to remove mine and put hers instead. But again I designed it with that in mind.

Is there nothing that's individually addressable?
So you don't need a sperate run

Fiber optic engines aren't individually addressable. The only way to make fiber optics addressable is to run them off individual LEDs, which a. aren't bright enough and b. is not really scalable (I have 337 individual light points at this point).

Enjoying!

The finished product looks very nice & pleasing!
I like the way the border stands away from the map, gives a professional look.

I assume you left a somewhat easy way to add additional locations, just curious how?

That frame was actually one of the more complicated parts to pull off, believe it or not.

I'll show how I add locations in the building post.

How many runs can each fiber optic engine hold?
