https://www.amazon.com/Uniden-R7-Detector-Dual-Antennas-Directional/dp/B07PJ2ZX6R/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1S1TCR843KS2L&keywords=uniden+r7&qid=1650834810&sprefix=uniden+%2Caps%2C181&sr=8-2

thats prob the best for $400 range but i would go with the R3 for $250 and ignore the k band alerts in the city but in the catskills cops run k band..

Where do you see the R3 for $250?

What are the legalities of these? 😀

There are speed limits for a reason. To keep you safe.
The cops also have that agenda.
Why are you trying to undermine that?

Lots of towns drop the speed limits so they can give you tickets.

Price range? Keep in mind it's gonna cost you about 1500 minimum.

Let's say under 2K.

Does anyone have experience with them?

Can anyone recommend or explain the benefits/trade-offs between the Uniden R7, the Uniden R8 and the Escort Redline 360?

I'm leaning towards the Uniden R7.

When programmed correctly the R7 is great.

Valentine V1 Gen2 or Uniden R7?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

What needs to be programmed in the R7 for optimal performance?

Knock out K band adjust the KA sensitivity etc.

Check Vortex Radar.

I believe the Valentine lacks built in GPS and also lacks (speed and red light) camera detection.

IME in NYC the R7s red light/speed cameras detection leaves a lot to be desired. Waze is a lot better.

The problem with Waze is that it doesn't announce an upcoming speeding camera unless you are driving at a speed above their threshold. If you start driving too quickly after where the announcement would have occurred, but before and through the camera zone, you'll never get a verbal warning.

What exactly about the R7, in this regard, leaves a lot to be desired? Are any other detector models better in regards to cameras?

IME lots of cops still use k. Especially upstate.
Don't even try it.
