Can I use friends upgrade on VZW for my grandfathered unlimitted plan?

I have my single grandfathered unlimited data Verizon plan and I'd like to upgrade to a new 4G LTE Device. If I upgrade on my own plan it will result in losing the unlimitted data.

The 2 typical options are either pay full price for the phone or use "Alternate Upgrade" meaning that you use one of your other lines which is eligible for an upgrade. I don't wanna pay full price and I have a single plan so non of those options would work for me.

If I have a friend - who is willing to upgrade one of his lines which already has the new shared data - activate it on the line he upgraded and then deactivate it and give it to me, will I be able to activate it on my account and keep my unlimitted data, or does it have to stay activated on the upgraded line for a certain amount of time?

Check out the new Nokia Lumia on VZW. Perhaps the best one yet. For anyone who can live with an embedded battery def take a look.

You should be able to do it immediately. If you have a nice rep he could do it for you in the spot.
