Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

Did you let them pull both times from the same report or different?

Did you apply with a new FFN?

Wow, just saw proof of the AA crackdown on refundable tickets to meet the threshold.
Don't do it folks.
Maybe elaborate...There is reason to believe you may have other motives in saying this and no one has come forward and confirmed it

Well, if you need more than Dan (don't believe his integrity should be questioned), I have reason to believe it's true as well.

Waiting on screenshot confirmation from someone.

My intention was not to question Dan's integrity rather to provide clarity to many people who are now quite worried and unsure how to proceed

Why should this be AA's concern? They are getting paid for every mile they deposit to anyone's account. This should bother Citi, or am I missing something?

I wish you posted this yesterday.  :-[
+10000000000  :-[ So now what? My best bet would probably be not to cancel the ticket for the next few months, and do legit spending untill then (I'll have to pay the AF though)

The evidence I saw is irrefutable. I don't see what elaboration is needed and I take offense at the questioning of my integrity.
I'd going to guess we'll be hearing a lot of this so think twice before going down this route and think twice more before cancelling that ticket.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Is this just for AA tickets? or anything that is beeing retuurned? It sounded from Dan upthread that even on non AA refunds... If so what the heck does AA have to stick in their ugly nose? (they are known to be nasty to people that do all kind of shtick, sellin miles etc....)

For people already in this boat can it possibly help at all to make a new AA account and then merge to the new account? I would think not but perhaps someone can chime in.
