I let that hold expire.
So you don't have anything booked for then?

So much for me asking you how your may trip went before we go in July.  :(

I'll see if I can work something out before you go. This way I can accomplish two things.

Ha! Don't do it just for me, but if you do end up going, I'll be sure to ask you questions.

BOS-DUB mid-August.
5 pax
1 on EI 136
4 on EI 138
All in Y ( :-\)
12,500 Avios pp. (We couldn't justify the extra 25,000 x 5 Avios to fly J for a relatively short flight.)
I may try to switch my EI 136 to EI 138 (certainly will try tomorrow in the "cooling off period"), but if not, I can arrive early in DUB before the fam, go to the lounge (it's only 25Euro), shower, daven, and have a few drinks before my weary family arrives!

Planning a tentative asia trip w/ wife and 2yo in August. Just booked SIN-AUH (787) -JFK (A380) in F.

Son is 2 so we got a seat for him. As of now, we have 2 F and one J/Y seat for each flight.

Questions:
1. In the apartment, can we keep son in room with us the entire time or close to the entire time? He obviously will have a ticket.
2. Is there room for our son to join our seat in the 787 F? Should we just downgrade to 3 J seats or is F much better?

1. If you buy your son a seat, that seat will probably have to be in F (plus if kids are cheaper than full fare that may work to your advantage). If that's the case, either your or your wife will have to sit in J/Y for takeoff and landing. If EY allows you to invite anyone on the plane into your apt, you shouldn't have an issue.
2. There appears to be some room, especially since the F on the 787 is like their F on the 77L in terms of the setup. They also both have ottomans, but that's not going to be too comfortable to sit on for that long. Now if it was SQ F and you had a double bed, 2 adults and 1 child could easily spread out on there.

1. Will there be room for a child in a car seat with the bed made? I'm fine going to J/Y for takeoff. Son is booked in F for now :).
2. I'm thinking 3 in J might be preferable so we're together. Might double book in case a third F seat opens upp.

Double booking is best, but otherwise 3 in J > splitting up.

I'm thinking about doing something similar in December from TLV-SYD. We'll be 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) but I'd be surprised if we can get 4 seats in F.
You're thinking about double booking in what way?

CNX-USM PG Y (2 pax plus lap infant)
USM-HKG PG Y (2 pax plus lap infant)

They charge for total miles travelled, not per segment. So total Mileage spent was 10,000 JAL pp)

Fills out this itinerary:

JFK-ICN KE F (2 pax plus lap infant)
ICN-CNX KE J (2 pax plus lap infant)
CNX-USM PG Y (2 pax plus lap infant)
USM-HKG PG Y (2 pax plus lap infant)
HKG-JFK CX J (3 seats)

Great. So you called JAL first asking for dates and availability? They said they had 2 per segment, you transferred SPG and then called back up to book? All easy cheesy?

Basically, yes. Only annoying part was long hold times with JAL. Initiated transfer from SPG on Wednesday and points appeared in my JAL account early this morning. Not sure if it would've been faster if not for New Years though.

Duplicate bookings are often cancelled by AA and can lead to account shutdowns.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Oh, I wouldn't do it like that. I know how much AA likes to shut people down.

I assume you're not saying it's impossible to protect your F seats by booking J seats though? Just don't book both though AA.

Hi, thanks. I have your TR from last summer as a guide for Spain and will probably have questions about Gibraltar and about the intra-Europe flights, etc. as the months draw near.   :D
