Amazingly, 5 seats in business at 57.5K + $24 opened up on JFK-LHR-LCA, with JFK-LHR being on AA which is why taxes were so cheap.  So I switched to this from Premium Econ to Rome.  From LCA-Israel, I had to fork over 200 euros per ticket (oddly enough for Cyprus Airways new business class on their A220, which was cheaper than all other economy alternatives...) since we're talking last week of August with no points availability and crazy summer vacation prices.

last week the ac leg opened up lowest saver price for j, so upgraded to 87.5 with 1st leg in business with hope of getting 2nd leg later on..changed on website was not charged change fee since kept the same flight

the ua leg now opened in business, the website showed the option to get both legs now in business [only since i already had it. a new booking would be 166k]. but couldnt process it. i called in and the upgraded and waived the change fee after i explained to them that the 1st time they didnt charge me...

so yul - sfo - mel in j for 87k
