What a NIGHTMARE

I cancelled my Plat and Merc Plat and got credits of $450 and $475 respectively for my membership fees, so I called Amex and asked them to apply the credits to my PR Gold card.

I see this morning they applied $427 of credit to my PRG and everything else has vanished. So I call them and they say my $475 credit from the merc plat is stuck somewhere in limbo, and that I requested a check for $23 (which I never did).

Now they say I have to wait 6-8 weeks for them to reconcile everything and get back to me in writing.

Is there anything I can do?

Are they going to take back my Plat airline credits when they do their reconciliation?

I talked to them again and she said, "They'll inform you in writing of what credits you'll receive."

They're going to take back all my airline credits because I did the EC method aren't they

Well I mean, they gave me back my membership fee in full on both cards because I cancelled within 30 days, and they said they would transfer my credits to my PRG balance.

I should get my membership fees refunded right? I'm just worried about my airline credits because I did the EC method. Can they take those back?

I'm thinking about applying for the card, however I have read a few threads saying its not worth the annual $ anymore.  I am a Diamond Delta flyer, soon to be Platinum Elite, and passed up a few AMEX Delta deals by mistake.  Wondering if this 50K promotion is a good time to jump into the AMEX Platinum card, and wait to transfer over some points for miles, keeping the fingers crossed they will have the big bonuses like last year.

The $450 is not a problem for me, as I can easily get the $200 reimbursed for airline expenses.

Help please, get it or wait for something better?

The high  has been 100k --last year , --IMHO any card 50k or over is a good deal , i would go for it and after 2months cancel and get the MB platinum for 50k or just do either plat card  and wait for a better offer on the one not applied for

What are the hits to your credit after getting approved and then canceling the card after a 2 month period?  I would definitely like to churn some cards as I have a 811 credit rating.

The credit inquiries will only hurt your credit for the short term. The effect it'll have on the average age of your accounts might be more drastic, especially if you open multiple accounts.

Cancelling the cards won't do much damage to your credit, if any.

Great.  The last card I ever applied for was the Costco AMEX back in 2004.  All of my open accounts: 1 Discover, 2 Chase, 1 BofA are 12-15 years old.  I just got a 3.75 30 year fixed mortage and really am not concerned with hitting the credit score short term.  Thanks for your help.

Its just hard to pull the trigger sometimes, knowing that a better deal always lurks around the corner.  :D

So can someone confirm:

I can use a 2bm for the Amex Plat and Mercedez Benz Amex Plat...........cancel right before 60 days and get the $450 + $475 refunded completely...and receive 50,000 points for each card? (Sounds to good to be true......but hopefully it can work).

You need to spend a certain amount in order to get the points.

Correct, $3000 for the regular, $1000 for the MB.
Otherwise it should work? Has anyone else, besides Yitz, actually tried it and been successful?
