Amex Platinum Master Thread

I have had 50k for the Mercedes Platinum and 25k for the Gold listed as pending since I met the spend (in 1st week). My 1st statement for the Gold posted yesterday and not only is there no mention of the bonus points, there is also no mention of the base points earned on the statement (not even as pending).

I called MR and they said points always post the month after, but I could take a 60k advance right now. I took her up on this so I could take advantage of the BA 50% promo, but I do not recall that Amex posts points a month behind. Is this accurate? If that is true, does anyone know if I call in 2 weeks and ask to change my statement date so the points will generate?

It's a charge card. You only earn points for paying your bill, unlike a regular cc that earns on spend

I believe they become pending before the next statement and usually post the next statement

So the regular platinum is 50k? even though it only shows 25k

"Congratulations! You've qualified for the bonus of 50,000 Membership Rewards® points with your new Platinum Card® from American Express.

I met the spend threshold on my regular Plat the same day but did not receive a similar email. Is that any cause for concern?

No, not in and of itself.

Most people do not get conf emails.

Which link did you sign up with for the regular Plat? 1k or 3k?

Regular Plat was 3K. MB was 1K.

can any please explain that why should i apply for the normal plat for the 50k points and then fight over it with them, when i can apply for merc plat that gives also 50k and only after 1k spend, is the benefits of the normal plat better then the merc plat? what is the diffrents from this 2 cards? or there is the same problems with the merc plat?

Your logic is correct, just go for the MB Plat, or, better yet, do a 2BM and get both

No, MB Plat actually adds a $100 coupon towards some cr@ppy rip-off-priced Mercedes gear at the dealership shop, and some sorta discount if you're buying a Mercedes.

Vanilla (non-MB) Plat might have a different spend requirement, but the bennies are identical.

Why not apply for the regular plat using one of the remaining valid 50k 3k spend links? and do a 2BM with it for the Merc Plat

Are you suggesting that the 50kk-only-posting-25k issue is specific to the $1k spend (vanilla) Plat?

I just suggested a 2BM for both Plats, scroll up.

thanks guys and you are right i will try maybe the 2bm but
1. its the first time trying amex is a diffrents that i shouldnt start up with a few?
2. the whole 2bm isnt so clear for me, can u just tell me about it one thing how much time do i have between the first submit and the second?

what im trying to ask is, i apply one in windows explore and the second in safari and i fill in both all my info, now in how much time do i have to click by both the ENTER button?
