Topic Wiki

Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Info can be the same aside form SSN and email and it shouldn't be an issue.
Maybe it's a dumb question but i should put his name on the card, yes?

And when linking a bank account do I use mine or his? Alternatively, I guess I could just use ATM instead of dealing with back accounts and his name etc?

At target in Howell today after loading 2k on my Redcard, I gave the cashier my wife's Redcard along with a cc with my wife's name. Cashier did a swipe then told me that really the cardholder has to be present but she'll do it for me this time.

Not sure if she meant the Redcardholder or the credit cardholder.

Back to this again?!?!?!? Cardholder means the person on the CC. She was saying that really you are committing fraud by processing a charge on a credit card when the cardholder is not present. But she will let it slide. Its mentioned upthread.

Isnt the first to do that and wont be the last. When u dont understand the basics of cc fraud this happens. If the card isnt in your name you shouldnt be using it without the cardholder present.

Can subaccount holders load money?

Yes, anyone can load money to someone else's card, just like you can deposit money to someone else's bank account. For instance, one of my Redbirds is on g/f name and I load it with my credit cards. However, because Redbird is new, there are reports of some cashiers not letting you load other people's Redbirds.

Any data points on atlantic :P

There have been many reports of the Atlantic store in Brooklyn only taking debit cards for Redbird loads since a few days ago...try the other Targets, people have had luck with them.

Same here. The name of the person whose helped me was "new team member"! She was extremely helpful even after I had to call chase and clear a fraud alert.

as far as the merchant that swipes your card is concerned, yes
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.
