Crazy as this sounds, Iran is actually a pretty safe place for a tourist. One of the few places on earth where being a member of the Press is more dangerous
Besides that tourist occasionally get arrested and accused of being a spy.The State Department warns“U.S. citizens may be subject to harassment or arrest while traveling or residing in Iran.”http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/alertswarnings/iran-travel-warning.htmlTraveling to Iran is one of those type of things i do but wouldn't recommend anyone to try.
Someone who studied the Middle East well, told me that the most democratic country in the Middle East is Israel, the second most democratic country in the Middle East is Iran. He tells me I know it sounds very funny to you but that's the fact.
