  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

Thanks again. Wasn't trouble being given for the USAA though? aka proof required

not usually as u see here:
Quote
And besides u don't need proof of membership usually

I recently rented with hertz. Put in USAA used the SA website when they asked for address I just put in my address and left the country as SA (you can't change it) I had a credit card attached to my account (chase sapphire-no foreign fees-the charge is in rand) so I was able to pre-pay.
I had no problems renting.

+1. i rented at LGA on thursday and car was waiting all ready, and JFK on friday and didnt need proof. CAK on today and didnt need proof.

And then there are those that had issues:

Quote
I rented at LGA (this past pesach) using USAA and the rep asked for proof of membership. I pulled out the e-mail with my membership number on it plus the e-mail I got from usaa verifying that all I need to show is my membership number to rent. she didn't want to accept it so I told her to call usaa and verify that I'm a member. she wrote down my membership number and the phone number for usaa and then gave me the car. I doubt she actually called. a little while later I called usaa to complain about the seemingly miscommunication between hertz and usaa. the csr told me that I am not eligible to use the usaa corporate since I'm not a banking or insurance costumer. I have since opened a free usaa checking account (minimum $25 opening deposit) and have not had any problems renting-just show the debit card if asked

The same exact thing happened to me. USAA told me im not qualified unless i have a banking account.

they put in the notes of my account that i need a actual card. so i got a USAA debit card.

but again if u have gold and in airport where they have car ready for you then not really a prob but if u want assurance, open up a FREE bank account from usaa and get debit card (min. $25) and ur all covered!

Dates: Jan 11 - Jan 16
Pickup/Dropoff: HNL
Age: Over 25 (may need to add additional driver over 25)
Agency: Not picky about any agency, although I do have 1400 Hertz points and I've got Gold status there.
Size: Compact/Economy/Midsize.  A negligible upcharge for a convertible would be a bonus, but not a requirement.

Hertz

intermediate - $206 ($41 p/day)
convertable - $285.93 ($57 p/day !!)
jeep wrangler - $281.74 ($56 p/day)

PM me if and which one you're interested in

Wow. Thanks for coming through Cbs!  My quoted rate ended up being ~$214 AI.  I was able to use the $25 off coupon and it brought my total down to $193.59 (the "vehicle licensing fee" was different from my quote to final receipt and I can't find my contract.  Was quoted $2.58 for the week and it ended up being $4.92).
