I am no expert, and value MB's expertise. But if this is (as) true as you say why is it not mentioned when FD is casually slipped in to DDS, or in the blogs FD 101 posts? I read Scott MacKenzie entire guide last night, and he mentions none of this. And you can tell he is extremely knowledgeable in this area...
I would imagine that while your point is true (I.e don't book a fd as you would a glitch) it is not as absolute as you make it sound...

Funny you should mention that... there's a big "machlokes haposkim" among the FD experts whether checking luggage is a risk, or if you have to only use the self-service kiosk to print your boarding pass to minimize human intervention. I think the accepted standard is to minimize interaction as much as possible - e.g. you can check bags, but try to do it at the busiest, most overloaded counter, so that the agent is too overwhelmed to study your reservation too closely.

Pretty sure every single member of DDF is always a phone call away from killing this deal and others. Clearly you can see I am asking the forum advice and hoping to learn from a vet on this topic and by no means have the intention for ruining the deal for anyone. You can get your points across by being informative and helpful as opposed to just ranting like an a$$ for hours now. So I guess since we are on the topic....When booking FD with a provider who does not calculate lap child fares and request me to call the airline direct after booking to price it out. Would calling airline to do this put the deal at risk? and if so, where can this be booked to include a lap child.
