Protection from american onto West jet flight
« on: October 02, 2015, 12:47:09 AM »
I was told tonight that my brother couldn't be protected onto WS1201 after his flight was canceled tonight because that is actually a Delta flight, it's just operated by west jet and american doesn't have an agreement with Delta. Does this make any sense?

No. AA can reprotect you on DL if they want to. Most of the times the agents will try to give you a hard time. It does not matter that they don't partner with DL. Most big airlines can reprotect you on different airlines during IRROPS. I just had DL reprotect 7 pax o LY etc.

Just called again. Now they're claiming they can't do it because it's a Avios ticket.

Wouldn't the recent ending of their interline agreement with Delta get rid of that ability?

Thanks for the offer. Fortunately the flight was only a couple of hundred dollars.

Its a WestJet flight operated by WestJet - could be it was a Delta (006) ticket?

american doesn't have an agreement with Delta
True - happened Sep 15 http://news.delta.com/delta-and-american-discontinue-interline-agreement

Now they're claiming they can't do it because it's a Avios ticket.
Ummm, you mean Skymiles? Where does Avios enter the picture here?

Sorry, the first post doesn't state that, and the subject doesn't show in full on Tapatalk.
Either was, WS to YYZ is WestJet fully, WS to YUL are operated by Delta
