« on: December 28, 2015, 03:06:57 PM »
Hi all, I'm looking to buy a new stethoscope, what should I look for , which type/style and brand should I buy.
Is anyone familiar with this?

there's different levels of littmans. whichever one u decide though i'd recommend getting a different color than black to avoid confusion.

Then it can be a toy as long as it looks real.

I use the littman lightweight. It's one of the less expensive but decent quality stethoscopes for standard use. You can find it on Amazon for as little as $40. You'll see many other nurses using it. However, if you need a top quality stethoscope then you'll want to go with littman cardiology, but that's $150 and up.

Seriously? Any actual medical professionals keep their stethoscopes hanging from their rear view mirror?

$150 sounds worthwhile for something used 12-20 times per day.
It could be more sensitive and accurate, so it's easier to hear the subtleties....

No joke! I have used a stethoscope to crack open a safe. You only really need it for the first few minutes, but without it things get more difficult.
