I guess it depends on whether this is an algorithm shutdown or not.

I'd assume it is and that a pair of human eyes might be sympathetic. System caught tons of orders to one address, assumed all the accounts were fraudulent.

But if not, then all bets are off. But still, Google accomplishes looking scary at what cost? Never good for business to scare the public without a good reason to want to scare everyone.

I think the odds are better that Google is concerned with the publics loss of trust. They can still save face and enforce t&c by giving violators a 72 hr advanced warning that their account will be disabled so that they can make appropriate arrangements.

Permenant closure is still heavy handed, but with advance warning is defensible.

Perhaps trust is the wrong word. Currently people don't think twice about how much the rely on google and entrust them with too many important items- which google loves. This story will have people thinking twice about their blind trust in google.

Why are none of these titles more like dan's Don’t Mess With The Google! or something like time to find a new email provider, Backup your google DATA now etc. it brings out the issue much more
