It is foolish thinking you need an occurrence like this for introspection. Introspection is an ongoing process.
I love people that claim to know why god does things. That's actually contrary to Judaism, ki lo machshevosai, machshevoseichem...
Not so, the world was created to follow the rules of nature. Finding meaning in everything is great, I find meaning in the taste of my coffee, but it's foolish to claim to know why things happen.Judaism is replete with statements that we can never know why things happen. It's the height of human folly and fallacy to claim to know why god does things.
Really, what's Judaism view on why bad things happen to good people?
Using these occurrences for introspection and ongoing introspection are not mutually exclusive.
Except it makes no sense.
How so
I pray every day and I should use this occurrence for prayer.
That is like saying I pray every day and I should use this occurrence for prayer.
However, to most people there is certainly a difference in the intensity and meaningfulness of a prayer that's said when you're in serious need, or one that is said when everything is rosy.
So is there something like a prayer scale?
You pray the same on an average day that you do when a close relative is in critical condition?
So you believe the amount and intensity of prayer has a direct bearing on the outcome?
So you believe the amount of prayer has a direct bearing on the outcome?
Absolutely. Particularly the intensity, sincerity and seriousness of the prayer. Sorry that you feel otherwise.
That is like saying I pray every day and I should use this occurrence for additional and more intensive prayer.
