Dan, very proud of you and happy that you were finally convinced to go out and see the real America the Beautiful.
Having taken my family on many road trips over the past several summers, some in RV (many thanks to
@whYME for introducing me to that world and for his and @Something Fishy 's amazing help several summers ago in navigating them then as a newbie to the national parks and a motorhome), there's simply nothing in the world like it!
As I learnt back then, all those
shmancy Starwood points were worthless in these areas. That's when I learned not to be part of the
sheeple who just hoard the points that are constantly blogged about, and instead learned to not keep all my eggs in one basket. That in these areas the best points to have on hand were the ones rarely blogged about. But that was relevant for either the Shabbos hotel stops or for when I went without an RV in the unfortunate situations which I couldn't find a deal (i.e. most of the time
) . B"H even this summer at the height of the RV season, we still managed to snag a deal. Without a deal the costs are simply prohibitive.
Best of luck, don't freeze, and enjoy the נפלאות הבורא!
