Common sense says that any diet that is extreme, e.g. eat tons of fat and protein, but very few carbs, cannot be healthy for the human body in the long run. Just can't be.
So Atkins may be good for losing weight but don't confuse skinny with healthy!
For a diet that helps you lose weight but is totally healthy and will improve your overall health while you also lose weight, read "Eat to Live" by Joel Fuhrman.
The gist of Fuhrman's diet is to eat foods that have a high nutrient-to-calorie ratio. I.e. eat foods that are packed with nutrients and relatively low in calories. Like beans, spinach, etc. You end up very full from very healthy food.
Disagree.
You are correct on the point that you can't eat HOW MUCH fat you want but full fat meals are not a problem at all. Beans is to much carbs, carbs is a killer this days, again its not about the caloreis it's about the carbs. I have no idea about your book but I know probably 20 people that changed their diet from eating beans, baked potatoes, cereal, and the silly Pyramid diets and changed to my diet and All of the sudden, There lipid panel, blood pressure, sugar cleared out.
Can you explain me why the Grape juice bottels have The symbol of the American Heart Association, I just cry everytime I see it, This brings heart attack this days!! the Government is driving us crazy, Heart attack raises every year and the Government still doesn't agree that they are wrong with their stupid pyramid idea. Again try it your self like me. I put my 80 year old grand mother on this diet, first she Called I'm crazy everything that the doctor says its a killer I'm telling her to eat it, to make it short She always had to take Medication for her cholesterol, after I made her eat the skin of the chicken, red mild, full fat Cheese. and we cut out the OFFICIAL healthy oat meal and rice cake, stopped all the juices that are full with carbs, yes, including grape juice even it haves the symble of the Associations. SHE IS OFF HER Cholesterol medications and her lipid panel is good once again after 30 years.
