Just did a first timer and the points were not Pending!
He called up and got it accelerated! We received 51k points last night!
So if you're worried about it not pending You are not necessarily screwed!

How long after spending did you ask for the acceleration?

Worth a try (got shot down on SM, maybe calling has better luck):

I wish I were able to accelerate the bonus points. However, I see that the bonus points will be posted by our system only automatically. There is no manual intervention. So, we will not be able to accelerate them manually.

Please wait for around 6 to 8 weeks from 08/01/12.

Try tweeting them 9AM - 5PM
they give you one complimentary point and then they can accelerate it
The people who answer twitter actually know the code to get whatever they need done w/o having to tell you that
"its not possible" or "its against policy"
(in other words I don't know how to do it!)

Data point; first timer applied/approved on 7/31. Finished spending 1k beginning of this week. Points are pending as of today. $200 incidental credit wasn't cashed out yet.

Both true However your CSR may vary.
on Twitter there are only 4 Girls and they all are American and know what they are doing.
(they may possibly have more discretion as they are all veteran CSRs)

A firs timer I know got his spend in before the statement closed. Pints were pending even before he paid. He paid and asked for acceleration this week, and it was approved. 50k in his account now!

I was a first timer for the MB Plat and have already gotten my 50k bonus, used them to transfer to BA with the 40% bonus, and confirmed that the AA gift card trick counts toward spend, all before my first statement has closed...This is a great card.
