Some california wines!
IMHO most of the herzog single vineyard special reserves are on par and even better the list above. Then there is Gen XIII and Chalk hill etc. etc.
BTW is the Yatir 06' a Yatir forest?
Oy you are missing so much, one meal R"H I had someone not religious so I bought those (Alexander and Napa Valley) They don't stand a chance to the Israeli wines

Yes of course.

Call me an idiot but I don't drink any Herzog.

In Israel so I don't think covenant is a good buy
Yatir Forest is still my favorite wine all things considered!

covenant is a good wine but not a good buy anywhere (IMHO it should be cheaper for the quality)
There are some great Herzogs, whats your beef with them?

I'm not missing anything! I enjoy both Israeli AND Californian wines (plus a few others, but i havn't met a french wine i liked)
I was responding to PlatinumGuys question of
What am I missing?

But your comparison is flawed it's like comparing Japanese cars to German cars and using a Camery Vs. an Audi A8.

If you want to do a comparison maybe compare the napa and alexander to segal special reserve or dalton alma or barkan special reserve, those are fair comparisons

My favorites for this yo"t are Castel GV '10 (better than 03 07 09), Yatir '06, The cave, and Mediterranean 2007. What am I missing?
The '10 is better then '09 (castel)??
Didn't know that!
What about segal unfiltered & Alexander the great?

I prefer the '10. Don't think I ever had the segal. Alexander's are too confusing for me, last I heard the 2004 Jlem of Gold is best but hard to find.

Lewis Pasco was an excellent blend at ~$25.

French Style Israeli.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

Carmel limited edition 2007
Is a great bottle.
My current go to bottle is the Ventura Rubens 2009 even the 2010 is OK.
Not very pricey about $20 if you get it in Israel  and about $50  in New York (that might be the cheapest and most expensive places respectively that's just the last two stores that I went to)
It's been getting harder to find though it seems like it's not a huge winery.

If you like a "Strong" wine (unfiltered) then I would suggest you try the segals.

Unfiltered does not referr to "strong" is just a filtering process

Herzog, Mt Veeder, very very soft.

Or Haganuz French Blend.
You can say what you think when you think what you say.

Can't for the life of me get around the french blend!
Too much of a "earthy" taste......
