Name on Passport/Ticket don't Match
« on: November 02, 2011, 05:06:18 PM »
What happens if the name on ticket is one's married last name, and the name on the passport is the maiden name?

Will a copy of the marriage cert. work as proof?

Please advise! TIA

Try calling and adding a hyphen/old last name  to the last name.

CO for international "your not going anywhere" but for domestic should be ok

TSA said it shouldn't a problem w/ marriage cert.

I had this on a jet blue flight to FLA.  They changed the name on the ticket without a problem.  No word on int'l flights though.
If you don't care why would you comment?

Someone flying with me ewr-pvg with co had the same problem, she called co and they said just add the old last name to the ticket (like sky121 said). The agents (ewr and pvg) didn’t even ask for marriage cert. It’s defiantly a good idea to take it.

I booked AA with Avios. Wife's married name is on the ticket. Passport is her maiden name.
Flying tomorrow.
Can I just bring my marriage certificate to LGA to the AA check in desk and be okay?

On the phone of course they say to email the docs.

I've had that experience using Avios, and they let us through without showing a marriage license

I had same issue with a short domestic flight, and check-in agents said they can't make big name changes.
Had to call British which took over an hour to issue a brew ticket. Ended up missing two flight cuz if it.

I had the same problem on a round trip domestic ticket. On the outbound I showed our marraige certificate by security and the tsa agent called over a manager who said it was no problem. On the inbound they didn't even ask for it.
Definitely bring your marraige certificate. That should be fine enough.
