For 4 weeks I have been learning in a packed beis medrash. Not one person wears a mask. One person was wearing one and I assumed eventually he would take it off. He still comes wearing a mask! The only reason I can think of is that he wears it because it's government mandated. Does that make sense to anyone using their brain?

Why is it the right thing? It's 400 young aged people in a bies medrash for 4 weeks and nothing has happened. Why does one mask gonna help? Masks protect everyone else more than the wearer so if anything happens he might catch it. Just stay home if your worried

Why are patients with mild symptoms going to the hospital?

I never saw anyone say that it'll make someone less likely to catch it. Its use is to make it less dangerous to the person catching it.

A) I said if he *feels* it’s the right thing
B) Your last 4 weeks argument has a bit of merit but is far from flawless. Past performance is no indication of future results.
C) So because he’s trying to protect others instead of himself it’s not the right thing to do?!
D) Masks clearly do seem to offer at least some protection to the wearer as well, as noted in the article you posted earlier. Most (all?) doctors concur.
E) “Just stay home if you’re worried”?? I see, everything is all or nothing, there is never gray area.
