when deciding who to pick for your president or plumber, u have to pick out from those who are interested in the job

Right, and in making the decision, you should factor in everything you know about those running.

How much weight to give each factor is a separate question. For example, if I needed a plumber and one guy is a little dishonest and doesn't know what he's doing and the second guy is very dishonest but is great at plumbing, I may decide to hire the second guy in spite of his dishonesty (and look over his shoulder the whole time).

And all of Parler is now hacked and free to see for all. Good luck.

Parler should sue the h$#@ out of Twillio for revealing such information in a press release.

Do you know how many of the people arrested in connection with the Capitol invasion were active users of Parler?

(I haven't fact checked this)

I don't mean this in a snarky way at all, but for all those people out there constantly complaining about government regulation and lecturing about how the free market solves all troubles, take a few minutes and see if some of  your arguments right now aren't very similar to those made against you then.
If not for govt regulation (section 230) the free market would be solving this a lot easier.

Section 230 provides companies immunity from the law for third party content. In a free market, the law isn't a factor. You can argue that they shouldn't have section 230, but I don't see how repealing it would have solved this problem in a laisezz-faire way.

+1. So much discussion on this topic, and so much ignorance.

I know you don't agree personally with everything you post, but if you do agree with that sentiment, then perhaps you should voluntarily stop using DDF. I'm pretty sure there are no automated detection tools here for violent or threatening content, nor any hired professional moderators.

Is there a difference from a 1st Amendment standpoint?

DDF has moderators, something Parler does not have.

Not sure what the 1st amendment has to do with any of this, the constitution is a charter that regulates the government, not the people or companies

Lack of moderation allows Apple & Google to remove them which might otherwise be an anti-trust issue.

As Jews we should be the first to ensure violence incitement is not tolerated, and yes we should ask for it to be done on the left as well.

Indeed, though there are some threads in which they are barred entry.

As Jews we should always hope that companies don't do things to stifle the voice of people who may then be prompted to let their inner anger out in other ways which usually has disastrous consequences for Jews.
I see it from this perspective.

OK, I would support a law requiring that with objective standards and non-Partisan implementation.

It's about raising the barrier for entry to protect these huge companies. Facebook and Twitter are big enough that they can afford develop these filters and pay people to do moderation. Therefore they want to pull up the ladder after them to ensure that no-one can compete with them.

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll raise the barrier so high that they become a "natural monopoly" and get declared a public utility.
