Google Voice may save a number as a home number, and in that mode it will not allow you to forward messages. In order to change that there's an option in legacy site.

they claim to reload numbers periodically. Alternatively you can port out a local # if you already have one then get a new one to replace (but make sure verizon won't throw on new fees to activate...) , or if you don't have a local # yet open one up with verizon and then port out, but watch out for fees ....
- btw i thought the changes to gv should have no effect on using it this way, just for those using it strictly thru their internet

I just signed up for GV with sprint # and its been really driving me crazy! Gotta press 1 everytime someone calls me cannot just answer by pressing talk, can't seem to figure out how to work my voicemail.....at the moment I want toi cancel the service and don't know how to delete my account. Pls help. TIA

login into your account and disable call screening that'll solve your first problem
Also you can undo the link, no need to delete any account

uncheck the box that says: Text Forwarding:  Forward text messages to my email:

Sorry.  The description of the support page said, 'your email address will be displayed.'  Did I read wrong?

you need your gmail login name. (Forget about the voice part)

It asks me to enter either a recovery phone number,  or the recovery email.  I don't think I ever set that up.  And if I did,  I don't know what it is.

No!
That is one of the reasons why I need  to access the inked email address.

ETA:  I know my pin,  but after entering the pin,  I get a message that I'm not calling from one of the forwarding numbers and therfore can't access the account.
