Think of Moving?

Airports:
  • CLE is about 15 minutes from downtown and 25-30 minutes from the Jewish community.  It's a focus city for Frontier, Spirit, and United.
  • The RTA (Rapid transit train) at Brookpark station has free parking and is just 1 train stop (3 minutes) to the stop inside the airport. The train costs $2.50 and the schedule is here: http://www.riderta.com/routes/redline/schedules/current#WestboundWeekday
An uber from Brookpark station to CLE is about $10.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CLE is about $30.
  • CLE off-site parking is about $9/day, on-site parking is $17-$22/day, and curbside valet parking is $35/day.
  • CAK is ~40 minutes from the Jewish community and located nearby the NFL Hall of Fame.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CAK is about $45.

Hotels:
  • There is a Hyatt Place in Legacy Village within walking distance of the Jewish community, though it's located just outside of the Eruv. It costs only 8K points/night.

  • The nicest hotel in Cleveland is like the Ritz-Carlton downtown. Marriott's Metropolitan at The 9 is also highly regarded, with a bar in an old vault. There is also a Hilton, Westin, and Kimpton downtown.

Transportation:
  • There is a subway/light rail connecting the airport with downtown, University Circle (where the Case campus and many museums are) and the Jewish community area, but renting a car is pretty much required unless you are just going between the airport and downtown.

I'm assuming nopec is best for electric as well? Somehow this is supposed to be better for the consumer, but I have no idea where to start understanding how all these things work. The apples to apples website didn't help me much either...

So looking more carefully at the bill, my monthly equal payment plan is $130, and I had a balance of ~$50 over the past year, so that's why it was so high. Looks like I pay 6.17 cents per kwh

If you have an equal payment plan then you're not going to be able to calculate the kwh cost like that.

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

See the Wiki. As long as you don't need the Eruv, Hyatt Legacy Village is the only hotel option.

The Grove is supposed to open on 7/19 with a massive supermarket complete and takeout counters.

Otherwise, you can buy those things from Tibors or ordering here: https://pkccle.com/menus/takeout-menu/

Update Today:

COLUMBUS, OH (July 1, 2021) – In a bipartisan vote, Ohio House and Senate voted to pass H.B. 110, the state's biennial operating budget. With the signing of the bill by Governor DeWine, the bill now creates law that is welcomed by families and education advocates alike.

Agudath Israel of Ohio’s executive director, Rabbi Yitz Frank, praised the General Assembly for their vision. "Expanding school choice options empowers underserved families to choose the school that works best for their child. On behalf of the hundreds of thousands of students that benefit from these provisions, we thank Senate President Huffman and Speaker Cupp, who deserve credit for crafting a compromise that will allow all children in Ohio to thrive. We also thank Governor DeWine for his ongoing support of school choice and its crucial role in Ohio’s education landscape.”

The bill includes many key provisions that expand school choice. Included in these changes are:

EdChoice and Cleveland Scholarships increase to $5,500 per pupil in grades K-8 and $7,500 per pupil in grades 9-12.

Expands scholarship eligibility to include siblings of current scholarship students, students in foster and kinship care, and students entering 9th grade.

Increases the value of special needs scholarships.

Eliminates deductions from districts' state aid and instead directly funds EdChoice and Cleveland scholarship programs and charter schools.

Creates a $750 state tax credit for individual contributions made to Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGO). Existing or newly formed SGOs may make contributions to tuition accounts for students enrolled at a private school.

Creates the ACE Education Savings Account program to provide $500 for education expenses for students with income levels below 300% FPL

"Yesterday's bill signing marks the culmination of many months of hard work by Agudath Israel of Ohio's Rabbi Yitz Frank and other advocates, including thousands of parents who contacted legislators about the need for additional school choice options," said Rabbi A.D Motzen, national director of state relations, of Agudath Israel. "Ohio now has one of the largest and most robust school choice programs in the country, benefiting thousands of families choosing Jewish and other nonpublic schools."

Looking for the Cleveland specific questions answered here

Driving from Michigan to Monticello, plan is to leave Wednesday night and arrive on Friday
4 kids aged 3-11

Drive Wed evening to CLE - stay where?
Thu - activity in CLE
Leave Thu evening towards Monticello - sleep over somewhere on the way - do a hike early Friday morning and finish the drive back to Monticello

1. Does the above plan make sense
2. Where to stay in CLE - ideally near minyan/kosher food
3. What to do in CLE on Thursday?
4. What is a good place to stay Thursday night and hike Friday morning?
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.
