According to the IDF spokesman, there are less than 100k people left. That certainly seems like it was indeed possible for about 1 million civilians to leave. I'd say that qualifies as "in large numbers"

Personal theory, they are very much on the same page, just speaking different languages. Israel is allowing for temporary ceasefire windows each day, and has been doing so for the last week, but they aren't interested in any official announcements. That could be because they don't want Hamas to get any ideas, or so that they aren't held liable if they have to break that "ceasefire" in order to accomplish important time-sensitive objectives. The US wants to announce these breaks because it serves their PR purposes, both on Israel's behalf for their international image, and for the US' image of having convinced Israel to take these humanitarian pauses.

Interesting development, Israel denies WH announcement and says they agreed to no such thing and there have been no changes in their plans or policies. Either the WH had a major miscommunication, or is attempting to publicly bully Israel into daily pauses that they've been resisting. Not a good look either way...

You asked me what MY definition of MSM is (or rather who would be included). I used your list omitting an obvious tabloid. I then went on to say who would traditionally be considered MSM.

To be clear, the way I see it MSM are organizations that traditionally and for many years have been considered true journalistic organizations. That would include the 3 networks ABC, CBS and NBC, and then CNN once Cable became a thing (while internationally one had Reuters and AP). In the 90s (and possibly earlier) many of these traditional news organizations started to take a strong political leaning that overruled their objective journalism in many instances. In response, FOX news was started (at the onset as a "counterbalance").

So when I refer to MSM I generally refer to News Organizations that have rich histories of news (but have become more and more politically opinionated).

I said nothing of Fake news in reference to MSM - that is reserved for Israeli "News" media where it is hard to find anything that isn't fake.

Released vs Rescued and similar issues can often be attributed even to poor English statements by non-English speakers. Don't be fazed by it, we will gladly clarify.

Lol, fine. So the "large numbers" quip was off base. But the quote literally says it is "difficult, if not impossible" for Palestinians to move south, when about 1 million accomplished the nigh impossible feat.

Is it a must/policy/law to keep updating the public after we lose each soldier.  What are the advantages of that?

IMHO I see some distinct disadvantages:

1.  Israeli public and maybe military loses morale; as the casualties go up it seems only natural that it affects the resolve and determination to go all the way.
2   Serves to strengthen the enemy moral and can be used by the enemy to bolster public support by showing real "gains" in their so called freedom fight etc...

Would it not be better to keep those numbers internal at least until this is over?
