Just don't go expecting Hawaii. Service at hotels isn't close to comparable, beauty isn't comparable, rental cars are tiny and old, cell service is tough, kosher food is limited.
I guess I was too spoiled by Hawaii to enjoy.

But it is a while lot closer to the east coast.
Never been to Hawaii yet, but hope to go in the winter. I have been to Puerto Rico & Costa Rica so I can handle bad/slow service. I got these tickets for 15k rountrip on southwest with wife free as companion- don't think those fares are beatable anywhere! Wife always wanted to go so I figured with the flights this cheap now is the time. I hope there is more to do than the typical jet-sking as Costa Rica really spoiled me. I'm surprised dan you never made it there-it might even give Hawaii a run for it's money.. I have radisson  & CHASE points so guess the debate is Btwn hyatt & radisson..

Nothing much in Aruba aside from the beach and jetskiing AFAIK.

I also heard the radisson is decent.
I'd stay far away from the Hyatt, though I did enjoy the 88K HGP compensation I got for the misery.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I didn't stay at the Hyatt, it looked fabulous. Radisson I haven't been to, but I have friends that have been going for years and stayed at the Hyatt. I would also look at the Ritz, because they may be running some kind of special. There should be non-CY milk on the island that has some Hescher. You can always ask the Chabad Rabbi.

I stayed at the Playa Linda Beach resort through Interval timeshare exchange.

Loved it.

Also, the Chabad house just opened across the street at the Hacienda Mall (http://JewishAruba.com)

Looks like that was 2 years ago. Do you still think it's that bad?

Also I'm trying to book for December/January time but the Hyatt web site is telling me "The special offer/rate you have selected is unavailable during the dates you have selected" . Any way around that?

Isn't Aruba the place where rich Dutch kids are allowed to murder people for fun?

Ok, but I don't see the comparison. In The JBR case, there was no systemic corruption or cover-up. In the NH case there was.

I just came back from a 4 night stay in Aruba and had a very pleasant time.

The Shluchim there are the most amazing people, they occasionally have kosher food service although you must contact them in advance.

Their Chabad house is a 5 min drive (25 min walk) from the Hyatt. They had a really nice Purim party and are very welcoming.

Hotel:
I stayed at the hyatt regency. No, this hotel is not even close to a category 6 hotel. However their grounds are really nice with a fun water slide :)
The service and rooms and everything else is really bad there, not a first choice.
The most disappointing thing is the porch in the room which is barley enough room to stand on, never mind to sit and relax.

The weather there is AMAZING, constantly sunny with a nice wind at 15MPH.

All in all, although there is not much to do there, but because of its close proximity to new york, I would definitely go again!

When I was in Aruba, someone mentioned to me that there are a ot of Chalov Stam products that he eats.

Not sure if  that is a good "Hecsher" but there are definitely people who rely on it.
