Yes that was the plan. I was driving and the system asks you to put in your CC# so couldnt call back.
My question was more about the "downgrade" to any AMEX card part

I hear that. Whats the best one to open. I have never had any other AMEX cards besides the SPG one.
I will try to get a retention bonus but even if they want to give me 1500 points its probably not worth the fee
I would open EDP if I couldn't get any retention to make it worth keeping.

So why dont I just get the non-preferred card and not pay an AF

I was just offered $25 statement credit to leave the account open. Other option was 1500 points.

Can this card be downgraded? Feel like I've seen reports of people doing it but just chatted and was told no.

Im wondering the same thing. I was told that it could be changed but that would most probably cause another pull on my account since they would have to put through another APP for that card since its a different card (not like CSP and CS are technically the same)
Can anyone confirm to the positive or negative?

Just to move the CL from one card to another I cant imagine would cause a Hard pull. My question is to downgrade to the amex blue which is a different card completely from the one AMEX SPG that I have, whether that would cause a hard pull. I think it will.

Say something about how you love the card and it's benefits and would love to keep just can't fit the annual fee into your budget at the moment.......
