The points are good for 4 years. If I can't get flights to HI this winter I'll use the points to fly to Alaska in the summer.

For reference, a Kayak search showed June first class flights from NYC ->  Anchorage for $1895. With this deal it goes down to $320 assuming Icelandair will show the availability.

I'm sitting on the sidelines until there's a at least one report of someone actually booking a flight to HI.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Nobody is finding any seats (even though they show on AS' website) but they are claiming that it's based on AS availability.

Yes, they seem to be having a problem loading AS inventory, but it is in fact based on their availability.

I think that once they sort out their availability with AS, there will be openings..regardless..even a flight to US48 in first is worth $320 bucks

When I bought the points I reasoned that the most likely change they would make based on the sudden rush to buy would be for them to raise the prices of their points because I can't imagine them changing the amount of points needed after so many reps confirmed it.

From Online Travel Review

Quote
Just made a successful booking from OAK! Thanks Jared and thanks Icelandair! A word on connections: I heard itís an extra 10k on Y and 15k on F for each leg. So this may not work out so well if you donít live in a gateway cit

I guess we could always dispute the purchase. According to the online travel review commenters the flights need to be super saver awards- but there are plenty of those so I don't see why they cant find any availability!

On what grounds will you win the dispute? They're allowed to devalue their point charts i they want to.

In any case, TPG says availability is dismal for both transcon and SEA-HI, so good luck booking EWR-SEA-LIH...

I think thats a possibility, but I don't believe it will be impossible to find W or A availability on AS over the next 4 years...regardless, even if nothing opens up now it is bound to open up at some point in the future

Mommy Points booked from Seattle. Seems to be harder to find legs from other cities.
And using the transfer miles options saves on some of the cost.

No metziah for east coasters once you have to get to SEA.

Anyone try booking from EWR/IAD/ORD/PHL yet?

No, but a great deal for anyone past the Midwest area, especially if they can use Avios to fly to SEA.
Since I'm in Isreal, I checked their other partners, but the prices are all very high.

Where is "past the midwest?" And from where exactly can use find good Avios flights to SEA?

Meant somewhere from where there may be a decent deal to SEA.
Here is AA's timetable. Haven't read through it yet.

Why do I need a timetable? Presumably they fly there from their hubs (DFW/JFK/MIA/ORD) but how exactly is it a good deal once you have to fly from there to SEA?

From JFK you're talking about adding 25K in coach or 75K in business just to get to SEA.

This seems like a great deal from SEA, but I'll stand by my midwest/east coast statement until proven otherwise.

The main issue with east coast/Midwest departures is the overnight transfer. Once IcelandAir figures out how to accurately book this type W or A fare while limited, there is availability from the east coast. This is more of a computer booking error rather then an airline regulation error.
