Any current recommendations for Chagall Bistro in Brooklyn?

BTW, went to Reserve Cut for lunch, which now has a pretty decent lunch special - $40 + tax/tip for:
- app (either porcini mushroom soup, sliders, salad or basic sushi),
-  main (salmon, burger, chipotle chicken/avo sandwich or veal sausage ragu) and
-  desert (apple cobbler or carrot cake).

Food was decent (porcini mushroom soup is the highlight, burger had an interesting flavor, carrot cake was a little dry) and really filling for a lunch.

I went there when it first opened and was not a fan at all.

Thanks R Judah, anything at all that you (or others can recommend (i need to try it once  ;)) or something to stay away from? I happen to be anti-Foie Gras, so none of that...

Not either a fan.

We had the Chef's Terrines & Pates- avoid. It's 3 different pates, duck, cornish hen & veal, all were a bit too dry and bland...

I don't see it on the menu anymore, but they had some kind of fig appetizer with fake cheese (made out of honey) that was actually kind delicious.

The mixed mushroom side is easily the best food I had there- and pretty well priced. It's a mix of 7 or so muchrooms sauteed, buttery tasting and spiced amazingly.

We skipped the mains and had 4 desserts instead- avoid the Crepes Suzette. The best of the desserts was the Passion Fruit Mousse...

I hear you both. Chagall bistro had a good vibe and was very nice, but I personally  not the guy who enjoys wierd European type tastes. We had seared tuna which was not as good in my mind as a usual tuna app at other places (there was this almost pickled flavor that some may like, but not me).

We also got steaks which were good but not special like at some higher end places (and it was still 42), plus the duck and the veal ragout, which again, we're not my style though maybe peeps who go to Pardes might enjoy these plates better. Desserts also weren't amazing, disappointed with nougat, but the baba dish was a little more interesting but maybe a little to moist/wet.
If u are in the hood, it's a nice option, but for the price there are some better simple steakhouses in my small minded mind.

Once I was in the Brooklyn hood, went to mason and mug, but since most of their stuff (and all deserts) are milchig, we just had a fish taco with magi mahi (very good but messy) and took some portobello burgers to go. They have an interesting beer selection but nothing on tap, had a strong stout Australian beer that was pretty good and wife liked the hot apple cider. Unfortunately no mock tails (wife was hoping for something mixed and non-alcoholic). Overall a great vibe, but u need to be milchig for cheese boards, deserts, and I wish they did more mixed drinks. Prices were extremely reasonable and vibe was nice (they chose good people as employees, which is important in my mind). Will try again.

Please Help: Need a great kosher lunch place (price not an issue) with decent drinks menu that is not a Prime or Reserve Cut. Anyone enjoy La Brochette? any other option?

I'm a big fan of Colbeh, but if you're looking for a steakhouse then it wouldn't be a good option for you.

Last week I went to Deli Cosboh (its probably not spelled correctly) in the upper west side about W 85th off Broadway. When I came in they gave me a seat near the door and it was freezing there. Every time someone came in or out my bones were shivering. Right away we ordered a soup. My friends soup was about double the size of soup I got ! How unprofessional is that ? When I told the waiter that he went to the kitchen and brought more soup in a small desert bowl :-\:-\ I sent it right back where it came from. Then we waited to order more and they didn't come over to us for 45 min. It was timed. I think that's some record. When we couldn't hold out anymore WE called over a waiter and ordered a stake. It was the worst Stake I ever had in a few years and I have been to plenty of places. It was like crunchy on the outside from all the burning coal on it. All in all It was a F  one big waste of money. (And their not cheap)

I agree, while the service isn't always the best, the food makes up for it. I am a fan of the Argentinean Steak .

And another vote for deli kasbah. Decent prices and for most part good food. Service could be a better.
