Flanked ends. Period. Everything else you put in to your taste, but flanked ends are the main key to a proper chulent.

true, I thought that was obvious, and I'm not crazy to get out of bed for some cholent rather of the couch for some cholent is permitted.
Does anyone put exact measurement in a cholent or a little of each thing? (including the spices a bit of each?)
Shabbos morning before davening, are the prime times for cholent IMHO.
I know someone who has exact measurements, definitely not the usual way though
Reminds me of the good times in yeshiva when my friends would go like zombies to get cholent in the middle of the night.

IDK. But Pesach is the achas bashana (I guess twice this year) when you can come to my house for a fleshing cholent. (got to make up for the lack of beans)
