Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Had a friend in CLE just get me a card. I know ive read that some ppl had it done incorrectly and thus it was useless. Just want to conffirm this as done correctly so I can get it asap.

Prepaid Red Card - they asked for ID and SS - uploaded a dollar - and paid 5 dollars for the card.

Would you guys agree that this was done correctly, is activated and can now be used by me with my OWN info to request a perm card online?

Yes, the charge on receipt should be $6 total, or $5.75 if they used Redcard for purchase.
They need to open card and give you the 15 digit Amex card # (under sticker) and 4 digit pin...

When u say "open card" , is that not done yet by them paying the bill? Is that something I can do given the 15 digit number and 4 digit pin?

FYI  and heads up to everyone here using chase credit cards to load RC's.
Chase is very much aware of all the $500 and $1000 charges and that they are for gift cards or what all the DDF'ers are doing.
They keep on declining these charges at Target for security concerns  and make you stay on the phone for a half hour verifying security questions etc, probabaly to discourage people from doing loads.
I have spoken to multiple friends about this and a lot of people are having this issues using chase CC's for RC loads, so just beware, I don't know if placing random number charges splitting them up will help or not, but that might be a way around this.
For example, placing charges of 893.26 and then 767.81 and then 838.93 might be a solution.
Any suggestions would be helpful for the Oilam.
My experience fwiw...
I did a 2k load with a chase card a couple of weeks ago and it wen't through no problem.
I did a $2500 with chase a couple of days ago and it was declined and I had to go through the whole verification thing (the csr then stayed on the phone with me as i re-swiped to make sure it would go through)
Today: I called ahead this time (to chase) and told the automated system that I would be putting through a charge for $1500 and it went through no problem

On another topic
I used a miles n more card and a chase card to load at target a few days ago and yesterday when I signed in to my miles n more I see that there's a fraud alert, and sure enough there's 3-4 fraudulent transactions. That night when I tried to use my chase card it was declined, and when I called in, I find out that it too had several fraudulent charges.
Coincidence?

Oh no target breach again?
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

They need to the packaging and give you the card number and 4 digit security code on the front. That's all you need to activate it. For everything else you use your own info.

IIRC, only some cards have it. When you call up, there's an option to inform them of travel plans or large purchases.

Tried registering my daughter.  Put in dob of 1990 instead of 2010 but they asked for ssn card and photo ID so that's a fail. I called and pretended I had put in correct year and she asked how old so I said 4 and she said can't do it cuz needs to be 18. I said I didn't know and apologized. She said no problem, and account will close in 3 days by itself.

They definitely soft pull credit. If the age and ss# dont match they ask for ID. Had that with my son too.
