Sounds right, Has a friend land at midnight when the location in airport closes then. He said he got there a half hour after "closing" time and there was someone there...

Well i landed and showed up to an airport location half hour after stated closing time, and there was no one there. So….

what type of airport?
Someone the airports I travel to, the local enterprise branch will leave the keys and contract with the airline.
Had this at AUG, RKD, LEB, RUT, BRL

I doubt Hertz leaves someone to serve customers even 1 minute after posted closing time

at least 24hrs advance. It's almost always available online/app. Try making a reservation without logging in and then try logging in and you'll see availability upto a fullsize.
I only had one recent reservation which still showed unavailable. I DMd and the agent made the reservation.
Another trick to get it within 24hrs is to make the reservation for alter and pickup earlier. As long as there are cars on the lot, you won't have an issue.

i used the guaranteed car available for executive elites for hawaii...hope it works given the car shortage, rate was 500, much cheaper than the 1000 on hotwire, priceline etc
