Yeah probably too short of a horizon for S&P. Maybe a Bond or possibly with the current trend a high interest savings account?

What’s the return you are looking to get?

For anything other than a guaranteed return (such as a CD or a bond that matures when needed) the right word to use in the question would be "hoping".
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

What probability are you looking for? How much actual loss of principal are you willing to accept if the probability doesn't pan out the way you hope?

You should try to have a plan/idea. What will you be happy with at the end of 5 years? You want to see that 10k turn into__? That’s where we can start and then discuss risk etc.

The best probable return
You have to decide whether you want 100% chance of 11k, 90% chance of 12k with a 10% chance of 10k, 80% chance of 13k with a 10% chance of <10k, and so on. Obviously, the numbers I just quoted are totally pulled out of thin air but you should get the point. Figure out your risk tolerance and/or target gains.

13/wk to 52/wk t-bills all in the 4.7-4.8 range. Not bad for risk free.

Savings account paying 5%
https://digital.primisbank.com/brochure/select-product-unauthenticated/select/personal/SDA

Just from googling around looks like 25k maximum deposit per day and they have terrible customer service, but 5% interest may justify that? if this is legit this is worthy of main site....

Meh - it's less than 1% more than you can get from normal options (e.g., Vanguard), and less than .3% more than T-bills.

I have numerous banks and CU's. I move funds around all the time. Is there a need to call customer service?

Primis Bank 5.03% Checking & Savings Accounts
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/primis-bank-5-03-checking-savings-accounts/

Keep in mind that these savings accounts can change at any time. If you are happy with 4-5%, I"m wondering why you wouldn't look into a 1-2+ year treasury or cd (or that 11 month cd from Capital One above)- this way you lock in the rate you are happy with and not risk having the bank lower their rate
