Is their a way to upgrade to business class using aeroplan miles on such a ticket?

I go the following email from cheapoair:

Dear ________

Ref: Your Recent  Air Tickets Booking #XXXXXX

We regret to inform you that the fare you selected for the booking referenced above was misfiled by Air Canada. The airline has informed us that they are unable to honor the misfiled fare and accept your booking.

As a result, we have no choice but to cancel your reservation and credit all amounts, if any, that you were charged for this booking back to your original form of payment.

As always in such cases of airline error we are available 24/7 at 800-566-2345 to assist you in finding acceptable alternate flight options that meet your needs. If you call, please make reference to the above eight digit Air Tickets Booking number.

Again, we sincerely regret the inconvenience that this has caused you, and appreciate your understanding.

No, I called AirCanada regarding the ticket # and the rep said that bookings made through Cheapoair usually takes 2 days to be ticketed. Also, the booking is not canceled on cheapoair.

Since it was cheap fare, I bought the optional insurance for our 3 tickets.

Here's a quote from the Trip Mate (cheapoair add-on insurance) FAQ:

8. Does the Fareportal Travel Protection Plan cover me if I want to cancel my Trip due to a Terrorist Incident?
 The Fareportal Travel Protection Plan does provide a benefit if you must cancel or interrupt your Trip due to a Terrorist Incident in your departure city or in a city which is a scheduled destination for your Trip. To be covered, the Terrorist Incident must occur within 30 days of the Scheduled Departure Date for your Trip (if your Travel Supplier offers a substitute itinerary, benefits do not apply). See Plan Documents for full details.

interesting point, for all of us going to Israel where unfortunately terrorist incidents happen too often.. winder if they'll allow that as an excuse to cancel

Amadeus didn't add the YQ, Worldspan did, and I think Sabre as well

I saw CheapOair and did some if my own research, because I knew I'd probably save a few bucks that way,  also I've heard a few bad reports from them, also I don't like they're cancellation policy, so I went to Kayak and booked with aircanada.com for only $275.20, they got ticketed instantly, later I found a mistake on one of the names, after the confirmation that the tickets will be honoured, I called Air Canada (I booked the ticket with them...) and they gladly changed the name for me which meant reissuing all the passengers. Thanks Dan, paid $1100 for 4 pax.
