Milan: I need urgent Help retrieving bag from Milan central station.

Here's the story (in short)

Someone took my bag from the arrivals belt, after waiting and waiting i realised that there was a very similar bag left in the belt.

I photographed the tag and info searched social media  and sent it to a friend to reach out to the guy (I'm on a plane and can't make calls and the Wifi is bad)

We got the guys family member and the guy realised at the Milan central station that the bag he has wasn't his and brought it to the police station. Now i need to figure out a way to get it.

I need advice.

The issue is if they'll release the bag to anyone but you, even if you found someone to go retrieve it for you.

I believe there's a Chabad Smicha Program in Milan, if the OP offered one of the students 100EUR to pick it up and drop it at a FedEx/UPS shipping place nearby they might be interested in helping out.

If you left without reporting anything, I don't think they're responsible at all. If you report it as missing, then I don't think they care that someone took it. I think they'd rather process a lost bag claim than go down to the PoPo in Milan to retrieve your bag and send it to you.

You could probably get someone else to fetsh it with a letter with a copy of your passport etc

Update: The guy returned the bag to Milan lost and found. ELAL directed lost and found to send the bag to JFK with Alitalia. I got confirmation that the bag was sent on a Alitalia flight on 7/2 to JFK, However Alitalia claims the bag never arrived and sends me to Elal, which is responsible for the bag. Elal has no new info since 7/2.

Whats the best way forward?

I need that bag.

The ticket was paid for at a TA not at the airline.

Will my Platinum card cover that? I was told that the charge needs to be charged at the airline in order for Amex to cover.

Interesting idea. Never thought of using the concierge service for that.

1) why waste your time when you can waste other people's time
2) they have people that speak italian
3) its easy to blow off some guy from brooklyn its harder to blow off AMex
3) they have a experience getting around BS and red tape
