Chase Sapphire Preferred
« on: April 18, 2011, 03:20:45 PM »
I just got an offer from Chase for their Sapphire Preferred card with a signup bonus of 50000 points, and an additional 30000 if i spend $3000 in the first 3 months. Is this a worthwhile card to have, and what can i do with the points? Thanks!

Amazing offer!
The points transfer to BA, CO, or Hyatt.

You also get a 7% annual bonus on spending with the card.

Is it possible to downgrade the card to a regular sapphire, which has no annual fee, after getting the points?

You should be able to do that. Might want to cash out (convert to miles) first (before switching the card type) because I don't think the regular Sapphire converts to miles.

Do you have a promo ID or link on that?  It sounds like a great offer!  Even better than the one that is currently out!

It's targeted so you won't be able to apply for it.
You can always try applying for the 50k offer and asking to be matched to 80K though.

I did and they are denying there is such an offer that's why I need some sort of code

I called them as well for another 30,000 points and they said that the other person is mistaken and they do not have such an offer

Is transferring to CO going to end since onepass is ending? or are they going to allow transferring to UA?

I'd be shocked if they don't continue to allow transfers to CO/UA in 2012.

well, they don't allow transferring to united (only through co first) so they should probably introduce united transferring first before the year is up and co ends.
it will be interesting to just one day switch from co to united; gradually makes more sense

my sapphire preferred is nearing the fee
what should i do with my UR points?
hold onto them for now with my freedom and at some point either me or my wife would get another chase card to switch them out? or switch them out to a different rewards account?  i dont currently have an account with any of the participating options

if you know you will be needing the miles for an upcoming trip, switch them out. If not, keep the in the Freedom. JMO...
