But do I have to buy it?
Sorry - I was confusing this rental with a rental in Costa Rica that I had a week apart. I did not need to buy any extra insurance in PR

For someone staying at the Sheraton (in the red area), does anyone know of the "most-Kosher" beach in the area?

Your best bet for optimal seclusion without going to the other side of the island is to go about 20-25 minutes west.  There are a bunch of quiet beaches along the 165 on the north shore.

Or if you want really quiet beaches and you have an extra 2-3 days go to one of the islands

Thanks good to hear. Looking at Gmaps, it doesn't look like there are beaches actually along the 165. Is that because they're just not showing up on the map? Any more specific names of beaches or areas to look?

I was there almost 2 years ago, but this area in the red box is all beach.  It was a little rockier than the south/east/west sides but not bad.  We found a little shop around the green circle that let us park and access the beach.

I stayed at the intecontinental, was fine, nothing terribly amazing. they gave me a fifth floor room pool view (as opposed to city view) room was fairly modern with a fair amount of space. had a couch, desk with one chair, coffee table, small balcony no room for a chair, plenty of outlets as opposed to many hotels i stayed in. used the chabad rate took the middle option for $189. convinced them to give me a fridge for free. they were very informed and helpful about shabbos, i thought i'd have to explain but they knew exactly what i needed.
I should point out, (i dont know if it was mentioned regarding the intercontinental but it was re the ritz) that the restaurant knows about heating up double wrapped kosher meals, they even have a waiver you have to sign regarding diseases etc which specifies kosher... but the bad news is they charge a $10 fee plus tax tip etc...
don't have much to suggest re activities, didn't do much other than relax at the pool and beach and go shopping, there are 2 nice malls in town.

Biobay can be done but do I need to rent a car to get there ? And is it a scary drive back at night ? What about taking a cab, will I find one when leaving ?
