I imagine it varies by company. I rented from Thrifty this week and was not asked for a letter.

+1 there's no option to not take it. IME all rental companies enforce it even with cc coverage

I always mange to get charged about $20 a day ? so what part of the insurance can I denied with my city card ?

I've heard of people having to show a letter, but I've never had to show one. So as emkay said...

It's not really a matter of usually or not usually more like certain companies ask and others don't. I know Thrifty/Elbar and Avis you don't but Hertz you do. Not saying that you won't find a time where you don't have to in Hertz but the policy by them is you need it.

Wasn't that only for a short period of time? I dont think they still ask for it.

My Citi TY premier covers CDW in Israel. Are all TY WMC? Are the Citi cards that don't have this?

I want to edit the wiki on Citi but don't want to put wrong info?

Will most rental places allow you to pay at drop off with a different card than you gave at pick up? Ie I'd like to reserve with a card that has cdw coverage, then switch to arrival+ at drop off

I just tried today at Thrifty and they did not let as they said the card I rented with has the insurance so they can't change it unless I wanna pay for the collision insurance from them.
