Our kids convinced my wife and me to go away for a vacation (we rarely do that, especially not without the kids). So we're booked 4 nights at the Baha Mar. Now I need to plan some activities. Any ideas? Looking for activities that 1. are not too crazy packed 2. not full of people in bathing suits 3. my wife could do wearing a shvimkeit.
TIA
Out of curiosity, why Bahamas?

All of the activities are around lots of kids and people and bathing suits.

A few people recommended it.
Honestly, we've never really done any sort of vacation like this. The closest we got is Miami and Phoenix (12 years ago). And to go to many of the other warm-weather places, there are much further away. Here, we are taking a Sunday morning flight (from JFK), landing at 9:00, and were told we could be at the beach (or anywhere else in the resort) within 45 minutes of landing. Leaving, we depart at 6:30pm and assuming there aren't delays, could be back in our house by 10:00. So we're getting 5 full days there. If we go elsewhere, it would be a lot more travel time.
Would you recommend someplace else? I may be able to cancel reservations and tickets.

5 full days is more than enough time to go pretty much anywhere in the world, but certainly anywhere from Hawaii to Europe.

GHBM is just not where you want to be if you are looking for a tznius getaway. Yes, you can be at the beach quick, but it's a crowded beach with lots of merchants selling their wares.

Personally I'd save GHBM for a family trip and go somewhere more far flung if we could travel without kids.

Now that I think about it, it started as a 2 night/3 day trip (hence we wanted to be not to far and not spend too much time traveling) and then our daughter convinced us to make it a 4 night/5 day trip. I guess we should have reevaluated where to go at that point.
I'll look at the other thread and see if we could maybe change our plans. Thank you.
But if anybody has any ideas for things to do in the Bahamas, I'm definately open to listening and staying there!

Edit: we're also leaving our 16 year old daughter (with a little help from our 17 year old son) to watch the other kids. So I'm not sure if it's so smart to go too far. But I'll def look into it. Thanks again

Correct, for a 3 days trip it makes far more sense. For 5 days and your criteria, I'm puzzled. You can really make it anywhere.

You can cancel your trip.
Correct. Just to walk past the pools to the kosher truck on the beach is walking by people in bathing suits.
People waiting on line at the kosher truck are also in bathing suits.

I am...puzzled.

Why would it better to do GHBM as a family trip over just couple, if “GHBM is just not where you want to be if you are looking for a tznius getaway.”
Pls explain how going with kids is better.

Can someone please give an overview of staying at Baha Mar over Shabbos? Specifically, do the rooms have non-electric keys, are there Shabbos elevators, spaces to hang out besides the room?

Does anyone have a contact for someone in charge of the Yeshiva Week Shabbat Meals?

Since no one answered.

We used the stairs to get into our room. ( I believe for this you need to be on one side of the resort)

Not sure why you can't hang out anywhere.

We ate Friday night at the restaurant which was very tasty and a nice vibe.

Shabbos day their to go meals were a waste and not very tasty..

Plenty of place to hang out (especially if you aren't carrying anything)

We went to Bahamar last year and will be going back this year
If you want Znius vacation forget it... the end (replying to guy a few posts up)
We went from sunday to thursday and it was the perfect time to stay there
Kids enjoyed it very much, but just to be clear, its not cheap! Everything is expensive, no way around it
Cinko is great, so is the food truck

daytrip to exumas

https://www.facebook.com/CaptainMalie

The highlight of our trip was that day. They are a amazing company and its not cheap, but thats life

We booked a flight with titan air (only worked per email) to fly from Nas (seperate small terminal) to Black point. about 250 dollars roundtrip per person
From there they pick you up and drive you to the harbour
You pay them about 1000 dollars (cash only) for a full day in the exumas on a boat. You have your own private boat with captain
-swimming with sharks
-swimming with pigs
-sandbank
-caves
-snorkeling

It was amazing, kids, wife all enjoyed it and we were back at hotel at 5PM

I have been to alot of nice places (seychelles, mauritius, maldives, San blas) and have to say the exumas beat them all. It was stunning

Thank you for the information,. Sounds awesome. But as you mentioned, tznius-wise it's not for me. I cancelled and rebooked a more appropriate vacation. Thanks for the reply though.
