Because if you have decent income I can't imagine why they would shut you down maybe cut your credit lines.

Just SM'd Chase to transfer CL from existing SPMC to approve a SP Visa and got this reply.

Thank you for contacting Chase.

We'd be happy to help you move into a card that better
suits your needs. Your account does have the option to
convert into a Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa Signature
card. The details of the product are mentioned below.

Annual Fee for this product is $95 and is first year free.
1 point for every $1 spent on all purchases and earn an
additional 1 point for every $1 spent on travel and dining
ý when you use your card at restaurants. 1 additional
point for every $1 spent when you book airfare and hotel
accommodations online through Ultimate Rewards with your
Chase Sapphire Preferred card. Learn more about your card
benefits at www.chase.com/ultimaterewards. No caps on the
amount of points earned. Bonus/Promotional offers may have
a maximum accumulation. No expiration on points. Yearly
points dividend of 7% will be credited based on total
points earned in a calendar year. Cardmember will not be
charged foreign transaction fees.

A new account number will be provided as a result of this
change. Be sure to notify any merchant where you have
automatic bill payment set up. The benefits and terms of
your account are also subject to change. Also, the Annual
Percentage Rate (APR) will not change.

Please review the following information before we process
your request.

-You will lose all active features on account once this
request is processed.

- If a change is processed, your rewards program will stay
the same, you'll continue to earn rewards, and keep the
rewards you already have.

-You will receive a letter with details regarding your
annual fee. Please review this information.

-Please keep in mind that when you change to a Visa
Signature card, from a MasterCard Worldcard the benefits
will be different.

-New Cardmember Agreement will be sent with new card.
Terms and conditions (i.e. APR and fees) on the new
account may differ from those on old account. Any
promotional balance attached to the old account may
transfer to your new account based on terms of the
original promotion.

-If you have previously been excluded from receiving
solicitations, you will continue to be excluded going
forward.

-This reward product also offers a bonus earn shopping
site. There will be no changes to any rewards earned by
your previous shopping site purchases.

-Please note that your expiration date and the signature
Panel code will change. If you have automatic charges
billed to this account, you will want to inform those
merchants of the new expiration date once you receive your
new card.

If you wish to proceed with this request, please reply
using the Secure Message Center. Your request will not be
processed unless we receive your confirmation.

Looking forward for your reply.

Sincerely,

H. Patil

Does this mean they are approving the app or just converting the SPMC to a Visa which means no sign up offer?

Looks like they did a conversion instead of approving the new application.

:(

So I SM'd back and asked them to clarify if they are converting or approving new app.  Will see what they write back.

I just had the same experience. I called recon and they said they didn't even do a pull and transferred me to Customer service. They converted my MC ->VISA and I will get a different number.
Will I get a new signup bonus?
Dan said he changes back and forth from MC-VISA-MC. Is this how he does it?

Feel out the rep. If you think they will do it, go for it. If not, HUCA.

this is some serious q's!!

what type of business, what type of services offered, how do we get income (bec its non profit)
what was income 2011, 2012, projected for 2013...

i think i need a new business line :)

dont really want to go thru another round of q's for my husbands application
think i will try my luck on the same call

now they asked for the ein number and not my social.

they asked me to send in proof of company name, ein and address bec its not coming up the system they check.
man does everyone go thru this?!!

i have applied for a few business cards in the past for both of us (starwood, amex gold, amex prg, ink bold)
i have never been turned doen so never had to go thu this.
truth is when i applied for ink bold a few months ago, they said needs review and then we got a missed call from them needing info but then i got the cards a few weeks later
