I still don't see how this is different that any old slaughterhouse. What am I missing here?
When we don't see something happen it is harder to relate to it. If we see first hand babies starving to death we would probably do more to help stop it. This is also a religious ritual so it gives the PETA thinking individuals a talking point.

1 minute after the ceremony. usually in the back of the place.. by any random "shochet" who has a "degree" in "shechita"
Is this done in front of you, including children? Is there blood squirting out? You hear stories about chickens running around with their head cut off. Does this really happen?

Locally we have the option of handing it over to the shochet and walking away or watching it being slaughtered and making a blessing on covering up the blood of the slaughtered animal.
After which it's prepped for disbursing to the hungry in our community.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

So you have a chicken having its throat slit for a religious ritual. Blood squirting out and it running around if it gets loose. Not passing judgment on anyone but can't you see why some would think this is not humane?

in public, yes.. absolutely.. not everything is supposed to be front & center.. But the people who are creating the noise are not genuine.. There is an agenda underneath..

People get hung up on the religious ritual thing. What's the difference if they are slaughtered in a slaughterhouse for food, or first take a trip to a religious backyard to be slaughtered? They both end up in someone's tummy.

Saying religious ritual makes it sound like if not for our religion, these chickens would still be alive. I'd venture to say that Kapparos may not cause even a single extra chicken to die  - if they weren't killed there they would be killed elsewhere.

The same thing happens when you hunt for sport. The logic used is the animal will end up in someone's tummy so what is the difference. For the record I have hunted for sport and also consumed everything that was killed.

Why is chicken given away instead of consumed by your family?
